Guide and friend

In 1989 I was sleeping in a small lodge in Tengboche on my way to Everest Base Camp when an Italian man that I never met woke me up to tell me that the view outside was gorgeous. From that day on we became like brothers and many adventures followed in our unquenchable thirst to explore the remote corners of the globe. That beginning shows the true core of Saverio Mennella’s soul: the need to share what he loves with other people. From friend he became a beloved guide of my tourist adventure company based in Brazil, Morgado Expedições. He is responsible to research and guide our sea kayak trips, to guide our clients to his adopted home, Hawaii and to show the intricacies of Japanese culture. His perfectionism in design and guiding his trips is only surpassed by his care and good humor making a trip with him an experience that goes far beyond visiting a beautiful place or country. I fully recommend him as an trip organizer, guide and travel companion.

I'm going again

I went to multiple guided hikes with Saverio, and every single time it was one-of-a-kind experience! I love outdoors, but I don’t get to hike regularly, so when I decide to go I want to make it count. Every time, Saverio was able to plan an amazing hike that checked all the boxes for me, whether I wanted to see waterfalls, enjoy some spectacular ridge views, or just get a quick exercise in the nature. Saverio was always well-prepared and professional. You can tell that he has years of experience guiding tours around the world and not many things can surprise him. However, the thing that I appreciated the most is his  knowledge about the area. He definitely knew the secret spots and side trips that you can’t find in the guidebooks. Off-trail adventures like picking up wild strawberry guavas during season (so delicious!), making a pit stop at the nearby Buddhist temple, or getting a fresh poke bowl from local shop after the hike made the tours that much more memorable. Saverio is very easy-going, fun, high energy and you can tell that he really enjoys exploring new places and meeting new people! Can’t imagine to a better person to explore Hawaii with. I am currently on the look out to do one of his multiple day tours
